31a Southampton - the lovely village of Arundel

We were using today as an opportunity to catch up with Garry's sister
Lorraine and her husband Keith. They had planned a day out for us visiting
the beautiful Arundel Castle.
It was a far drive to Arundel, only made worse by the traffic we encountered
on the main roads. The village of Arundel sits on the River Arun, a village
with lots of character and a pleasure to walk around its small streets.
Taking pride of place upon a hill is Arundel Castle. A bit like a works in
progress, it was originally founded in 1067 and over the centuries it has
been extended and parts rebuilt to what it is today. It is one of the
longest inhabited country houses in all of England. It had served as the
family home of the Dukes of Norfolk and their ancestors for nearly 1000
years.
We arrived before the doors opened, so we used this time to sit and catch up
with our family over a Cream Tea in a traditional tearoom known as
"Lulamae's".
