33a Reykjavik - OMG, more GOT and little Vikings thrown in..visiting Iceland again.

A fleeting stop at the small town of Vik. A little village in a valley, a
sitting duck for flash floods due to water accumulating within the nearby
glacier. At any given time, this water can escape, and inhabitants of Vik
have been drilled in escaping to higher ground when the warning siren is
sounded.
Around the corner is Black Beach. Its sand is black as black from which I
assume is volcanic. From higher ground it looks like a tarred road. Just off
shore, spectacular rock formations sit in the water just like those you find
along the Victorian coastline that we know as the Twelve Apostles. There are
also some amazing formations along the cliff faces, and watch the ledges
long enough, and you will spot a puffin or two.
It was here that we felt the sting of how expensive everything is here in
this part of the world. A bowl of vegetable soup, ham roll and two coffees,
not much change from $50.
