We arrived in New York in the early hours of the morning. So early I managed
to grab a picture of the Pilot as he boarded the ship at 11.30 pm before I
headed to bed.
"Immigration" in New York is a dirty word! We all arrive with the
expectation that it will not be quick. The ticket number issued to us was
15 with an expected call off of 10.45am .. Uggh there goes half our day!!
It was somewhere between 7.30 and 8 am when the cruise director made an
announcement that debark was open due to the small number of people in the
terminal. Quickly gathering our things together we headed for the nearest
exist."sorry, we are back to using the numbers, what number are you".
Sheepishly I answered 15 and that we only came because Corey said so. Maybe
it was the sad eyes, or guilt of the premature announcement, we were ushered
to the side and asked to wait for next free flow opportunity. Bingo, not
even 5 minutes and we were down in the terminal queued up for processing.
"Place your right hand here, thumb there, look into the camera" was the only
interaction from our disinterested customs officer. Waved away we headed
straight up towards Times Square.
Being so early, and Garry breakfast less , we treated ourselves to a stop at
the iconic Juniors Restaurant. They sell the best NY Cheesecake in town.
well, that is the only cheesecake we have had in NY, but we are going by
reputation. Garry eating the traditional bacon and eggs, I with my big
slice of cake. YUM!
