With that ticked off our list, we were now in search of black bears. From the safety of small wooden cabins perched high on a hill, we watched the bears from a comfortable distance. It was not long before one, two, three bears appeared. At one stage there were six different bears of all sizes.
It was amazing how they all suddenly appeared, until we realised, of course this was feed time.
Not interested in the small pickings of the squirrels and blue jays who were also hanging around, the bears came, they went, they played, the fought and patiently they waited for their bounty to appear.
The bears didn't seem too worried about the delay in feeding, but we were.
The clock was ticking, and we needed to get back to the ship. Word finally came through that feeding was still not going to happen in the immediate future, so we all piled into our big yellow bus for our journey back. With the little time we had left, we made the most of the free internet in the terminal before we boarded what we now affectionally call home!
A little bonus to our sailaway was cruising past the shrine of Saguenay, a Madonna statue perch high overlooking the fjord. We made a slight turn into one of the bays where the captain sounded the ships whistle. We all sat in silence and waited for the echoes make their way back to us..
Lucky we have these port days where we can clock up over 20,000 steps, cause the sea days are looking pretty sad!
Step count 834,778
